To grow petunia seedlings, we use home-made plastic containers with a depth of at least 5 cm or buy special mini-greenhouses in the store. Additionally, we purchase soil for seedlings, cling film and toothpicks. We fill each segment of the container with earth, spill it with water with the addition of potassium permanganate. If there are no drainage holes at the bottom of the cassettes, we pre-make them.

There are many benefits to granulated seeds. First of all, petunia seeds themselves are extremely small, they are much smaller than a grain of sand, and it is difficult to sow them. But sowing granules is extremely simple. It is enough to lay out the granules on the prepared and moistened soil mixture and slightly press them in (it is not necessary to sprinkle with earth, the petunia is sown superficially). Seeds are laid out at a distance of several centimeters from each other. You can sow immediately in pots or cups - two per cup. The sown granules are covered with plastic wrap. By the way, granulated seeds give on average a higher germination rate compared to conventional ones.

But with loose seeds, everything is somewhat more complicated. Here, the inconvenience is compensated by the lower cost. You can start diving seedlings when their height reaches 4-5 centimeters. Using a narrow knife, remove each sprout, pinching the root at a depth of about three centimeters. After that, each sprout is planted in an individual container.

The main problem that can be encountered when growing petunia seedlings is excessive stretching of sprouts due to lack of light. You can cope with this problem when picking, deepening the seedlings into the soil to the cotyledon leaves.

Granular seeds can be sown directly into peat tablets - then you don't have to dive.

In individual containers, it will be more convenient for the plant to develop, it will grow healthier, and it will be easier for you to transplant seedlings into open ground. Sowing petunias in the snow - get 100% seedlings!

Every summer resident and gardener often faces the problem of growing petunia seedlings, because small seeds very often do not germinate. What to do? How to grow beautiful and lush flowers? The cultivation technology is not complicated, but requires compliance with certain rules:

When to sow petunias for seedlings? You can start sowing as early as late January and early February, if you have for future seedlings. But if there are no special lamps, then it is better to postpone the sowing of seeds until March, when the daylight hours become longer and the sprouts will receive sufficient quantity natural light
Prepare the ground. Take 2 parts of red peat, 1 part of river sand and 1 part of sod land, mix well. What to do next with seedlings? The first time after germination, the plants build up the root system, so the leaf blades develop slowly. When the sprouts grow a little, you can open and ventilate for the first time for 5-7 minutes. condensate, accumulated on the lid should be carefully removed with a cloth or paper towel. Remember, seedlings are still quite fragile and large drops of water can nail the sprouts to the ground. Water as needed, but do not flood! The soil must be moist, do not let it dry out.
