Wintergreen recumbent: cultivation and care. Ornamental shrubs and trees Flowering ornamental shrub for the garden hydrangea

What is better to choose for a hedge - trees, upright shrubs or creeping birch? Here, a lot depends on your taste, on the style of the garden or dacha, on the cold-hardiness zone... And what a huge choice!

But here’s an example of how in a small city garden adjacent to a residential area, 5 of the most unpretentious shrubs were used as hedges. What they also have in common is that they can be either clipped or free-growing.

The park itself has different sections with its own uneven and shady areas, and is also closely adjacent to roads and residential areas. Therefore, the gardeners had the task of protecting themselves from noise and ugly city views, and also creating a low hedge under old huge trees inside the mini-park.

Among their selection, we did not see conifers - probably due to their slow growth. Most likely, the designers were faced with the task of turning an abandoned area of a former forest into a park area as quickly as possible. Apparently that's why the choice fell on.

We are talking about the following plants:

  • cherry laurel,
  • barberry,
  • St. John's wort,
  • honeysuckle,
  • hawthorn.

Although they are completely different in their evergreen, height and flowering, trees and shrubs complement each other well and can look great in one mixed hedge.

Below are photos of shrubs with a short description. We did not set out to talk in detail about these plants here - you can learn about them in other articles.

Cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus Rotundifolia)

Dense, thick, evergreen shrub belong to the deciduous type. The dark green leaves are large, leathery and shiny, as if covered with wax. They form a dense, almost impenetrable fence from the ground itself and, with their evergreenness, decorate the garden at any time of the year.

This unpretentious plant grows well in any soil and will become good choice for urban smoky areas, as well as for gardens and dachas with shady areas. Suitable for tall hedges.

Cherry laurel is a medium-growing plant for and its annual growth is up to 30 cm. It can reach 5 m in height, but optimal pruning is no higher than 4 m. At the same time, the shrub will be about 2.5 m wide, so it should be planted at a distance not less than 1-1.5 m from the border of the site.

Barberry Thunberg

One of the most popular plants for low hedges up to 1 m high. Dense shoots grow horizontally and if they are not cut, they will fall in an arched manner to the ground.

The small, egg-shaped leaves turn bright red in the fall and last until the end of October. During this period, the shrub shows its beauty in full force and decorates the dull autumn landscape.

This type of barberry is quite unpretentious to soil and drought, but young shoots do not tolerate harsh winters. Therefore, during the growth period, the shrub will need to be covered in late autumn.

Often, after leveling the ground with a bulldozer, loose slopes remain along the perimeter of the site, and one of the right decisions will plant the slopes with barberry. Its powerful root system It will hold the plant well and at the same time reliably strengthen your slope.

St. John's wort (Hypericum hircinum)

This shrub is suitable for creating flowering hedges up to 1.0 m. It is a semi-evergreen shrub and has light green oval-shaped leaves. Its beautiful bright yellow flowers have five petals and long, 3 cm protruding stamens, which make the flowers airy.

St. John's wort does not require special care, but loves fertile, well-drained soil. This is a free-growing shrub and if you still want to give it shape, then light pruning is best done after flowering.

Shiny honeysuckle (Lonicera nitida)

This low creeping dwarf birch serves mainly to create a green area in unsuitable rocky areas and as ground cover plant. It is also good to cover rocky slopes with honeysuckle.

But if you cut it, you can form a fairly strong and thick border of the correct shape.

Shiny honeysuckle is good because it is winter-hardy, even if it freezes. The bush is unpretentious to soils, arid climates and urban conditions. Although it loves the sun, it can grow well in shallow shade.

Hawthorn (Crataegus Monogyna) )

It is more likely not a shrub, but a small deciduous tree with a spreading oval crown, which can reach 6 m in height. Despite this, it lends itself well to cutting and produces a high living wall. In addition, its thorny branches create an impenetrable fence and you can completely do without an additional fence.

At the end of spring, hawthorn blooms densely with white flowers with red stamens, collected in large inflorescences of 10-18 flowers and your fence becomes stunningly beautiful.

Hawthorn is unpretentious and an adult plant does not require special care. Only in the first two years will it be necessary to carefully monitor the sprouts, which grow very slowly during this period. But then the tree gains a growth rate of 25-30 cm in height and reaches full height by 8-10 years.

To maintain the shape of the hedge, the tree is trimmed twice a year - in summer and autumn.

The landscape designers who designed the planting of hedge plants in this park managed to create a very beautiful and cozy park, despite its small size.

There are practically no flower beds there; all free areas are planted with lawn. Flowers only in containers. And all the beauty of the park is given by trees, shrubs and birch trees. At the same time, it is very quiet there and practically no cars passing nearby are visible. Like this.

Astrakhan tomatoes ripen remarkably well lying on the ground, but this experience should not be repeated in the Moscow region. Our tomatoes need support, support, garter. The summer months are the time for hydrangeas to bloom. This beautiful deciduous shrub produces luxuriously fragrant flowers from June to September. Florists readily use large inflorescences for wedding decorations and bouquets. To admire the beauty of a flowering hydrangea bush in your garden, you should take care of the proper conditions for it. Unfortunately, some hydrangeas do not bloom year after year, despite the care and efforts of gardeners. We will explain why this happens in the article.

Every summer resident knows that plants need nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium for full development. These are the three main macronutrients, the deficiency of which significantly affects appearance and plant yield, and in advanced cases can lead to their death. But not everyone understands the importance of other macro- and microelements for plant health. And they are important not only in themselves, but also for the effective absorption of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

Garden strawberries, or strawberry, as we used to call it, is one of the early aromatic berries that summer generously gifts us with. How happy we are about this harvest! In order for the “berry boom” to repeat every year, we need to take care of the berry bushes in the summer (after the end of fruiting). The laying of flower buds, from which ovaries will form in the spring and berries in the summer, begins approximately 30 days after the end of fruiting.

Spicy pickled watermelon is a savory appetizer for fatty meat. Watermelons and watermelon rinds have been pickled since time immemorial, but this process is labor-intensive and time-consuming. Among the variety of species and hybrids of philodendrons, there are many plants, both gigantic and compact. But not a single species competes in unpretentiousness with the main modest one - the blushing philodendron. True, his modesty does not concern the appearance of the plant. Blushing stems and cuttings, huge leaves, long shoots, forming, although very large, but also a strikingly elegant silhouette, look very elegant. Philodendron blushing requires only one thing - at least minimal care.

Thick chickpea soup with vegetables and egg - a simple recipe for a hearty first course, inspired by oriental cuisine. Similar thick soups prepared in India, Morocco, and Southeast Asian countries. The tone is set by spices and seasonings - garlic, chili, ginger and a bouquet of spicy spices, which can be assembled to your taste. Today it can be found not only in the south, in the middle zone, but also in the Urals and Siberia.

Many ornamental and fruit crops, except drought-resistant ones, suffer from the scorching sun, and conifers in the winter-spring period suffer from sunlight, enhanced by reflection from the snow. In this article we will tell you about a unique preparation for protecting plants from sunburn and drought - Sunshet Agrosuccess. The problem is relevant for most regions of Russia. In February and early March Sun rays become more active, and the plants are not yet ready for new conditions.

“Every vegetable has its own time,” and every plant has its own optimal time for planting. Anyone who has dealt with planting is well aware that the hot season for planting is spring and autumn. This is due to several factors: in the spring the plants have not yet begun to grow rapidly, there is no sweltering heat and precipitation often falls. However, no matter how hard we try, circumstances often develop such that planting has to be carried out in the midst of summer.

Now every gardener has the opportunity to grow absolutely environmentally friendly, healthy fruits and vegetables in own garden. Atlant microbiological fertilizer will help with this. It contains helper bacteria that settle in the root system area and begin to work for the benefit of the plant, allowing it to actively grow, remain healthy and produce high yields. Typically, many microorganisms coexist around the root system of plants.

For summer residents who decide to decorate their plot beautiful bushes, the question immediately arises - which shrub is best to plant?

Ideally, such a plant should satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Be beautiful throughout the summer season.
  2. Easy to care for.
  3. Frost-resistant, able to withstand our difficult winters.

Winter-hardy, beautifully flowering shrubs

Below are the names and characteristics of just such ornamental shrubs: frost-resistant, unpretentious and beautifully flowering.

Many shrubs have proven themselves to be winter-hardy, undemanding and at the same time very decorative in our climate. I’ll tell you about the most popular ones, which can be planted in almost all regions of our country.

Derain white

Famous for its brightly colored red bark. There is a form with large green leaves, which become multi-colored by autumn, and a more compact turf with white-edged leaves. To ensure that the tree bark is always bright, the bushes are pruned short every year, leaving stumps of shoots - a few centimeters above the soil level. With this formation, the bush forms expanding thickets.

  • Shrub height from one and a half to two meters.
  • Blooms in early summer.
  • Derain is exceptionally frost-resistant, decorative and unpretentious in all respects.
  • Grows in any soil and tolerates heat and shade well.
  • Suitable for planting in the background of a plot or along a fence, as well as for hedges.

This type of turf is especially beautiful in the fall.

This is a type of tree with green leaves that turn burgundy in autumn.

And this is variegated turf.

The leaves of this plant remain painted with a white pattern all summer.

This shrub is quite suitable for creating hedges.

Derain grows quickly and in order for the hedge to be always neat, it will have to be carefully looked after.

This is how the turf blooms.

The plant can be formed into either a lush bush or a small tree.

Derain does not lose its decorative effect even in winter.

Well, where else can you find a bush with such original, red shoots?

Deciduous barberries

They are distinguished by enviable winter hardiness and are easy to care for. The color of the leaves can be yellow, green, purple, red. Barberries are suitable for any fertile soil, open space or partial shade. They are easy to trim, but you don’t have to trim them, limiting yourself to removing damaged and excess branches in the spring.

  • Height different types and varieties vary from 60 cm to 2 m.
  • An extremely unpretentious, frost-resistant shrub. Grows in shade, sun and almost any soil. The colors of the leaves are striking in their diversity.
  • The application is universal, from planting low-growing varieties on hills to creating hedges. It can serve as both a background and an edge; it looks beautiful on a green lawn.

Hedge from barberry

Picturesque and practical hedges are made from barberry, but we must remember that this shrub is terribly prickly and not particularly pleasant to work with. Read more about using barberry in garden design

Spirea

Almost all spirea are fast-growing, frost-resistant shrubs, unpretentious and profusely flowering. There are two groups of spirea - spring-flowering and summer-flowering. In spring-blooming species, such as Ash Spiraea, the drooping branches are entirely decorated with tiny white flowers. These spirea bloom once. In spring-flowering spireas, old and weak branches are cut out after flowering.

Summer-flowering spirea are characterized by long flowering. Pink (various shades) flowers are usually collected in flat spherical or spike-shaped inflorescences. Of the summer-flowering spireas, interesting is the Boumalda spirea (height 60 cm), blooming with graceful, carmine-pink flat inflorescences. The Goldflame variety has young leaves that are yellow and orange, so the bush looks very elegant in spring.

Varieties of Japanese spirea (height 60 cm) are also very interesting. For example, the Crispa variety is distinguished by very decorative bright flowers.

  • The height of the bushes, depending on the variety, is from 0.5 m to 2 m.
  • If you select spring-flowering and summer-flowering varieties, flowering can continue almost throughout the spring and summer.
  • Spiraea does not require fertile soil. Grows quickly in both sun and partial shade. Most spirea are winter-hardy and do not need shelter even in frosty winters.
  • These shrubs are not only decorative, but also have a wide variety of sizes, bush shapes, leaf colors and different time flowering. Thanks to these qualities, you can decorate the garden with only spirea.

Spiraea Vangutta.

Such tall shrubs are suitable for single plantings or for growing in hedges.

You can create such a picturesque corner by planting spirea with hostas and juniper.

Spiraea japonica

The low-growing Japanese spirea makes elegant borders. It also looks appropriate in rockeries.

Hydrangea

Tree hydrangea, a shrub of North American origin, proved to be the most winter-hardy. Other species (originally from China and Japan) are less frost-resistant and more difficult to care for.

Tree hydrangea is common in our gardens, but for some reason everyone wants to see plants with blue, pink or even reddish inflorescences in their gardens. Such hydrangeas, of course, are spectacular, but more capricious, although among them there are varieties that some gardeners successfully grow in the northern regions.

But if you haven't grown hydrangea in your garden, start with tree hydrangea - an easy-to-care, showy shrub with huge caps of white flowers.

Hydrangea paniculata grows well in the harsh regions of Russia, a very beautiful wintering shrub up to three meters high (ours does not reach such a height) with a dense spherical crown. The inflorescence is a wide-pyramidal panicle 15-30 cm long and 30 cm wide. The flowers are white, turning red in autumn.

  • The height of the bushes is up to two meters.
  • Blooms from mid-summer.
  • Hydrangeas are extremely moisture-loving, tolerate shade well, and love well-drained, fertile, acidic soil. Therefore, peat is added when planting. The soil can be acidified with iron sulfate.
  • Hydrangeas are planted as single bushes or in groups. The plant goes well with other coniferous and deciduous ornamental shrubs.

Such a picturesque shrub is sure to attract attention.

Cinquefoil shrub

Deciduous shrubs, prostrate or compact. The bush-like forms of cinquefoil have three names at once: Kuril tea, bush cinquefoil and five-leaf plant. Cinquefoil is made attractive by the abundance of small flowers. The most common is the form with yellow flowers.

The flowers are solitary or in a few racemes or umbellate inflorescences, medium-sized. The plant's bright green, small carved foliage is also decorative. Cinquefoils do not tolerate dry air well.

  • Bushes one to one and a half meters high.
  • The shrub blooms for a very long time - almost from the beginning of summer to the beginning of autumn.
  • Cinquefoils are photophilous, although they tolerate slight partial shade, are quite drought-resistant, and require rich soils, which should be moderately moist.
  • Winter-hardy: species forms can withstand forty-degree frosts, varieties are less tolerant of low temperatures.
  • Cinquefoil is suitable for creating borders and low hedges, looks elegant in single and group plantings, and combines harmoniously with coniferous plants.

Here is such a neat bush of Potentilla fruticosa.

Cinquefoil tolerates clipping well and makes colorful hedges and borders.

Bladderwort viburnum

Large, frost-resistant shrub. Both of its forms - both with golden and purple leaves - are always decorative: in the spring, when the leaves bloom, during flowering (it blooms with white corymbose inflorescences) and after it, when clusters of red fruits are formed.

  • The height of the bushes, depending on the variety, is from one to three meters.
  • Flowering in early summer, for 20 days.
  • Bladderwort is unpretentious, drought-resistant and shade-tolerant, but it is better to plant in full sun so that the leaves retain their bright color.
  • Suitable for tall hedges and single plantings.

Diabolo bladderwort.

These are the different types of vesicles. There are shrubs with different leaf colors.

Bladderwort Luteus.

Snowberry

Snowberries come in white and pink. If you are interested in the most cold-resistant shrubs, then plant white snowberry; it can easily tolerate even the coldest winters.

Over time, it grows strongly and can grow in any conditions, both in the open sun and in the dense shade of trees. The shrub is valued for its many large, decorative, white marble-like fruits that form in the fall.

Easy to trim, bushes are thinned out in early spring, cut in summer.

  • It grows up to 2.5 meters wide and 1.5 meters high.
  • Snowberry grows on any soil, prefers a sunny place. Minimal care: the plant is drought-resistant, does not require fertilizing, can easily tolerate heat, and is not susceptible to diseases and pests.
  • With its white fruits it looks good on dark greenery: on the lawn, against the backdrop of conifers.

Snowberry hedges look elegant and require very little maintenance.

Ornamental shrubs for summer cottages with average winter hardiness

The plants described below, although they are not particularly frost-resistant, do not require special shelter for the winter. In most cases, simply covering the bushes with snow is enough.

Deytsia

If the action is given room, in June she will dress small flowers. The color of the flowers (and they can be both double and non-double) varies from white to intense pink.

In our climate, Deutzia rough is considered the most unpretentious. It blooms with white and pink flowers. It is not very demanding on the soil; it grows well wherever water does not stagnate. Adapts to both sun and partial shade. Faded branches are pruned after flowering. Old branches are cut down to the base.

  • Most varieties of deutia do not exceed 120-170 cm in height.
  • Flowering in spring and summer (depending on variety)
  • The shrub is easy to care for; drought-resistant and not susceptible to diseases and pests. In winter, it is advisable to press the branches to the ground (at -25º the buds freeze slightly)
  • Deutia makes picturesque, unformed hedges. You can plant a mixborder in the background or cover the base of tall bushes.

Beautiful deutzia.

Planting deutia hedges in the northern regions is not recommended. Still, this shrub is not winter-hardy enough for such purposes.

In the southern regions, deutzia is quite suitable for creating hedges

Keria japonica

An unpretentious shrub that blooms annually in April-May with yellow flowers. May bloom again.

The non-double form is very elegant: slender, slightly drooping branches, reaching a length of one and a half meters, yellow flowers, similar to large flowers Buttercup And after flowering, the bush looks lovely, thanks to its very beautiful bright green leaves, similar to young birch leaves.

  • The height of the bushes is up to two meters.
  • Blooms in spring. Flowering is long, almost two months.
  • Prefers a place in the sun. It can grow in partial shade, but its decorative qualities are noticeably lost. Regular watering and periodic feeding are required.
  • Used for singles and group plantings. It goes well with conifers and looks beautiful on a green lawn.

Keria is distinguished by early and bright flowering.

This plant can also be grown in pots. Of course, the size of the bush in this case will be much more modest.

Keria can also be grown on the balcony.

Weigela

When in bloom, it is the most beautiful of all the shrubs listed above. But to show off its drooping branches in all its glory, it requires a lot of space. Loves fertile soil and annual pruning, but is generally unpretentious. Immediately after flowering, branches with faded flowers are shortened.

Weigela Variegata is more compact and restrained in growth - a bush up to 120 cm high with pale pink flowers and yellow-edged leaves.

Weigels do not like to grow in the wind. When planting, it is necessary to maintain a distance between seedlings of at least two meters.

  • On average, the height of weigela is 1.5 - 2 meters.
  • It blooms in May-June with pink, white or ruby-red tubular flowers. Prone to re-blooming.
  • Weigela grows on any soil, on direct sun and in partial shade.
  • The most frost-resistant varieties that winter well both in Siberia and in the Moscow region: “Alba”, “Striatum”, “Shtyriaka”, “Bristol ruby”.
  • Considering the high decorative value of this shrub, it is usually planted in the foreground: at the entrance to the house, along the paths or on the lawn.

Weigela rosea hybrid.

Weigela will harmoniously fit into any corner of the garden.

Weigela Red Prince

Chaenomeles (Japanese quince)

A very common shrub because it can grow on any soil, both in the sun and in the shade. It blooms brightly in spring and bears golden, fragrant fruits in autumn. The bushes do not need pruning: they are thinned out occasionally.

The diameter of Chaenomeles flowers is 3 - 5 cm.

It should be noted that weigela, deutzia, and kerria can have severely frozen branches in severe winters. But nothing bad will happen: the bushes grow quickly.

Of all the listed assortments, I love summer spireas, weigelas, vesicles and barberries most of all for their beautiful and long flowering, high decorative value throughout the season

Shrubs should be placed in accordance with their growth and ability to grow in breadth.

About the rules for pruning ornamental shrubs

All of the plants listed are not rare; they are quite easy to acquire.

88 261 Add to favorites

No one can do without decorative deciduous trees and shrubs. personal plot. They are as popular as flowers, and in addition, do not require such careful care. Another advantage of ornamental shrubs for the garden is a one-time planting on long years. While creating favorable conditions ornamental trees and the bushes will delight you for many years.

For some reason, some of them are not considered easy to care for, although they belong to the category of such plants. The thing is that some ornamental shrubs for the garden have features on which their successful cultivation in the garden depends. The conditions are simple, but not everyone knows about it. So it turns out that the plant falls into the category of “capricious”, not adapted to our climate.

Below we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the photos and names of ornamental shrubs and trees, as well as recommendations for caring for them.

Canadian maple is tall tree with dark red, rather dark cherry leaves. It is very decorative. Moreover, the leaves become so beautiful if they are periodically illuminated by the sun during the day. In the shade they are almost black. The tree mostly grows upwards, so if you want to get beautiful shape crowns, maple trees need to be pruned frequently. This tree tolerates winters well, but it all depends on where it is planted. He “does not like” certain directions. The maple may freeze if you plant it on the north side of a building and close to the foundation, and also if you do not prune its non-lignified shoots for the winter. If the maple produces many shoots in the fall, its winter hardiness may sharply decrease.

Flowering ornamental shrub for the garden forsythia

The flowering ornamental shrub forsythia is not uncommon in our gardens, and it will be one of the first to delight you with its beautiful inflorescences. But for many it never blooms, despite feeding, care, and care. It's all about feeding. This ornamental shrub for the garden loves poor soil, and it will bloom only on it. In rich soil it will only produce leaves and abundant shoots, which also reduce the plant's winter hardiness. As a result, the forsythia freezes out. The conclusion is this: plant on poor soil and be sure to provide minimal shelter for the winter (a cover made of lutrasil).

Decorative flowering shrub rhododendron (with photo)

The flowering ornamental shrub rhododendron is not afraid of frost, but it is strong winds and dryness. It can “freeze” from strong winds in winter. That is why it needs to be covered tightly for the winter, so that the shelter is windproof.

Pay attention to the photo of this flowering ornamental shrub: a structure made of reinforcement is placed around the rhododendron, lutrasil is thrown on top, and polyethylene is placed on top. And all this is tied tightly from the bottom so that the wind does not penetrate. In spring, this cover is removed as early as possible so that the rhododendron receives moisture. Throughout the season, it is watered abundantly and the leaves are moistened with a sprayer or poured from a watering can - this must be done every day. If the bush grows in the wind, it needs to make a curtain of plants or install a garden partition. Rhododendron will not grow or bloom in alkaline soil. And this kind of soil mainly exists in gardens, since most plants need this kind of soil. Therefore, selectively change the soil at the site where the rhododendron is planted to acidic soil, and then, so that it does not become alkalized over time, the rhododendron is fertilized three times a year with a special fertilizer for rhododendrons and peat is added. Then your rhododendron will delight you with lush flowering.

The best varieties of rhododendrons for the middle zone:

Katevbinsky;

short-fruited;

Late bloomers: short-fruited, Caucasian, largest, rusty.

Beautiful ornamental shrub viburnum buldenezh

The beautiful ornamental shrub Viburnum buldenezh is unpretentious; the problem is sometimes that it does not bloom for years. The only reason is the pruning. This viburnum blooms only on last year's shoots, so if you cut off the shoots in the fall, the bush will simply have nothing to bloom on. Usually, the shoots of the common viburnum are cut off in the fall to combat aphids, which overwinter at the ends of the shoots. But for viburnum Buldenezh it is better to use chemicals pest control. By the way, if it hasn’t bloomed for a year or two due to pruning of shoots, now it will delight you with especially lush flowering!

Ornamental shrub Japanese quince

The main secret of ornamental shrubs Japanese quince- shelter for the winter. In winter, uncovered shrubs freeze to the height of the snow cover, but if the winter turns out to be little snow, then all the shoots will freeze. Well, if you put up a frame and cover it with thick lutrasil, the whole bush will bloom magnificently in the spring. The frame is necessary because Japanese quince is a thorny shrub and can tear any shelter.

Flowering ornamental shrub for the garden hydrangea

The flowering ornamental shrub for the garden, hydrangea, has several types; in the middle zone, tree-like, paniculate and large-leaved hydrangeas are mainly planted. The most commonly grown paniculata and large leaf hydrangea, and yet they are often confused. Their flowers are similar, and their own color is white.

Hydrangea paniculata - absolutely unpretentious shrub, guaranteed to bloom in full shade with lush caps of white flowers. In winter, non-lignified shoots freeze, so they are pruned in the fall, but in the spring, hydrangea quickly produces new shoots. But the inflorescences of this hydrangea cannot be painted. This can only be done with large-leaved hydrangea. If you want to receive pink flowers, water the hydrangea with a weak solution of potassium permanganate, and add ash, chalk, and lime to the soil. If you want to receive blue flowers- acidify the soil with pine sawdust, add peat, water with a weak solution of ammonium sulfate or citric acid. To make the blue color brighter, you can use a special fertilizer for hydrangeas with aluminum.

Large-leaved hydrangea is more demanding than paniculata; it needs to be covered for the winter, the main thing is not to plant it in cold lowlands or near foundations. It often does not bloom for gardeners for years. This happens because it is not covered well enough. It blooms only on last year's shoots. And if they freeze, there will be no flowers.

Majority hydrangeas (Hydrangea) - small deciduous trees or shrubs, not exceeding 1 - 3 meters in height, but there are also tree-like vines up to 30 meters high. There are about 80 in the Hydrangeaceae family types of hydrangeas, almost all of them are native to North America and Southeast Asia, including Japan and China. Several types of hydrangeas grow in the Russian Far East.

  • Decorative deciduous shrubs for medium-sized hedges

A hedge of medium-sized decorative deciduous shrubs can be planted both at the border of the site and in the garden to cover unsightly walls of buildings or corners of the garden, or to enclose a recreation area. A medium-sized hedge will provide excellent sun protection for shade-tolerant plants.

  • Planting roses

    Where to plant roses?

If you are going to plant roses in your garden, you need to take a responsible approach to choosing a planting location. A rose grows in one place for a very long time, like any tree or shrub, therefore, the place must be chosen for it based on its requirements.

For a future rose garden, a garden plot with a slight slope to the south, protected from the north and northeast wind, is suitable. Ideally, the first half of the day the roses will be fully illuminated by the rising morning sun, and in the second half of the day they will be covered by lacy penumbra.

  • Rowan in the garden

Mountain ash(Sorbus aucuparia) - very beautiful tree, especially in single landings. Alleys of rowan trees along the roads also make a great impression. Latin name aucuparia comes from the merger of two: avis - bird and capere - to attract, lure, catch.
