Homemade car polishing machine. DIY car polishing machine. How to polish a car with your own hands without a polishing machine. Motor and polishing discs

I decided to assemble this device to simplify cleaning the legs of radio components and other surfaces that need to be prepare for soldering.

This is actually the detail that gave me this idea:

You can get it from a Soviet cassette recorder.

Glue it to it fine-grained sandpaper:

Working part sanders ready, let's get started creating a drive. We need any motor with a shaft diameter of 1.5 mm; it will fit perfectly with the nozzle.

And a button like this:

We bend the button fastenings for subsequent fastening to the engine:

And solder it to the electric motor in any place convenient for you:

One of the button pins is also soldered to the body.

We bend one leg of the motor and close it with solder to the body:

Now we need to deal with nutrition. I used a 7 volt AC adapter:

We begin to connect the adapter to the motor. We solder one contact of the adapter to the free leg of the switch, the other to the free leg of the electric motor:

That's it! The machine is ideal for cleaning solder joints and other small work. By the same principle you can do small drill using a collet chuck. If you already have a drill bit, you can leave the attachment on the original shaft and simply clamp it into the chuck.

How to do grinder with your own hands

You can make your own sanding machine

To make a simple grinding machine we need very simple things. First, let's find a motor. You can use, for example, old computer parts: power supply or disk drive. You can find other similar electric motors, for example from a fan; in our technological age this is not a problem. To drive this motor, you can use a regular household volt battery.

Next, take a piece of board, sand it, or coat it with varnish for beauty. Now let's attach the motor and battery to this board using screws, connect them with wires, and introduce a regular switch into the circuit. The wires can also be secured to the board so that they do not dangle, using, for example, a stapler.

Now take sandpaper, cut out two round pieces from it, and glue them together with glue. This will be our grinding wheel.

Next, we need two bushings to attach the grinding wheel to the motor axis. Here you should focus on what you are using as a motor, since the diameter of the axis can be different. In principle, you can try some plastic bushings, selecting them according to the diameter of the axle.

That's basically all. This type of grinding wheel can be used to grind various wooden and metal parts.

Since I found this method of making a homemade grinding machine on the Internet, I cannot vouch for its authenticity. I can only point out some errors and shortcomings of this product.

Firstly, the electric motor from a computer is unlikely to be suitable for a grinding machine; it will probably be rather weak. It is better, of course, to use a fan motor.

Secondly, a sanding element made of glued sandpaper is not the most acceptable option. Stores sell special small grinding wheels. Although the very principle of manufacturing a grinding machine is correct.

However, if it comes to that, then make a stationary grinding unit, better from an old electric motor washing machine. It can be used not only for grinding wheels, but also for sharpening abrasive wheels.

Hello Muskovites.
I bring to your attention a review of a small sander under the popular name - Dremel, complete with a set of accessories.
In short, I liked the set. I recommend it. For detailed information, please...

Once upon a time I had a similar homemade machine. It consisted of el. engine and flexible cable from honey. drills connected to each other by a round rubber belt. And so, remembering my youth, I decided to buy a modern drill, that is, a Dremel.
I spent a long time choosing based on the price/quality/equipment ratio.
Found it with a $6 discount. Paid. Received it in a month. There will be no photos of the track and packaging, because I don’t like to look at them myself.
I will only note that the packaging is made of soft polystyrene, tightly wrapped with tape. What didn't stop it from falling apart cardboard box Dremel.

Technical characteristics according to specification.
By the way, now this specification is not on the product page (but I remember that it was). I copied this one from a Dremel box.
Voltage - 230-240V
Power - 130W (on the Dremel itself it’s generally 180W)
Revolutions - 10000 - 37000
Weight - 450g
Dimensions (my measurements):
Length (without collet) - 160mm,
Diameter (the widest part, without slightly protruding brush plugs) - 51mm
This is what was in the broken box.

Dremel.
The appearance is good. The body is rough and does not slip in the hand.

The size is not big, just right for my hand.

There is a button to fix the shaft. The speed switch knob moves smoothly, without clicks.
There will be no autopsy.
Spare parts include: key, L-shaped clamp, 2 brushes, circular saw, a pair of cameos with a shank, a drill and a collet.

Flexible cable in a sheath (similar to a speedometer cable). length - 106cm. Naturally, it is completely dry. To eliminate this drawback, you need to remove the cable from the sheath (it can be easily pulled out) and lubricate it well vegetable oil Litol or CIATIM.

I don't understand the manufacturer's country. (Came from the Netherlands)

MULTITOOL set.
Wooden box with metal. latch. Size - 215x145x40mm.
The set of replacement tools is chic and good + consumables. There is some kind of polishing paste (dry) in jars

.
A set of tips of different configurations with diamond coating (I think so) This is for working (engraving) on metal.

And now the TX measurements.
Power in different switch positions (no load).
1 position

2 position

3 position

4 position

5 position

It turns out el. The motor power is only 60 W. I tried to clamp the cartridge with my hand, the power rose a little 3-4 W.
Revolutions in different switch positions.
An ancient device is used to measure shaft rotation speed, so I can’t vouch for the accuracy. Moreover, it has a limit (according to the passport) of 10,000 rpm.

1 position - 3600

2nd position - 11000

3 position - 17000
4 position - 20000
5 position - 33000
I didn't take photos of the last measurements. I hope you believe it. At max. There is a slight vibration at rpm. The front bearing gets hot. You will have to disassemble the Dremel and lubricate it. From the end you can see that the bearing is a closed type.

Conclusion.
I liked the set.
+ There is everything for work. Flexible cable. Small size. Fits comfortably in the hand. Has a loop for hanging on a hook
- The power does not correspond to the declared one. Although for me this is not significant.
Maintenance must be done before use. There is no hard box for the Dremel. Although for me this is not significant. I have already picked up a suitable box from a burnt drill.
That's all. I hope my review will help you decide on a Dremel.
I can’t hide it under the spoiler, so there won’t be a cat.
P.S.
Anticipating advice from readers regarding opening a dispute due to a discrepancy in the power of the Dremel, I hasten to inform you that there will be no dispute.
T.K. I have already indicated receipt of the goods. Well, I didn’t bother to take measurements before...

I'm planning to buy +92 Add to favorites I liked the review +53 +139

When working with wooden surface is coming to an end, the final polishing stage begins. To perform grinding without burrs, scratches, beautifully rounded sharp corners any part, you need to use a wood sander. This tool will help you perform professional grinding even for a beginner who picks up the machine for the first time. If you wish, you can make a grinding machine yourself, using only available tools.

The industry produces several types of machines, differing both in design and purpose. Here are the main ones:

  • Eccentric or orbital, in this case the base of the tool simultaneously rotates around its axis and along a certain orbit. It turns out that each time it passes in a slightly different place, so scratches and burrs are rubbed out more and more with each pass.

  • Vibration model. Here the working sole carries out reciprocating movements with a frequency of about 20,000 movements per minute. It is through these movements that grinding occurs.
  • An angle grinder, which is popularly called a “grinder”. Using this tool, rough processing of parts, large logs, etc. is carried out. Abrasive wheels of the required grain size are used for processing.
  • A belt sander typically used for large surfaces. Structurally, it consists of rollers driven by an electric motor, on which sanding tape is worn.

Making a belt sander with your own hands + (Video)

Making a belt sander yourself is not at all difficult; you need to complete the following steps:

  • pick up suitable materials and details;
  • create a reliable basis for securing the tool;
  • install a suitable countertop;
  • secure the vertical posts with tensioner and drum;
  • mount the motor and drums;
  • secure with sanding tape.

To process fairly large parts and elements, it is necessary to make a large copy of a serial grinder. For example, if you take an electric motor with a power of 2 kW or more powerful with a rotor speed of 1500 rpm, then you don’t need to install a gearbox. The power of such an engine is quite enough to rotate a drum about 20 cm in diameter and process parts of about 2 m.

You can also use an electric motor from an old one washing machine. In this case, the frame is made from a thick sheet of iron, preparing a place for installing the motor and carefully securing it with bolts to eliminate vibration. The design of such a machine consists of 2 drums, one of which is fixed, and the second can be tensioned and rotates on bearings around an axis. It is advisable to make the base for the machine from metal or several sheets of thick plywood. Drums are made by lathe from chipboard. The tape is cut from sandpaper sheets about 20 cm wide and secured to the frame. The larger the table size, the larger the parts can be stacked and processed in the future. Drawings finished products can be found on the web.

Making a grinder from a grinder

Many may say that the “grinder” is the same as an angle grinder, but there are some subtleties hidden here. It should be borne in mind that the angle grinder has very high speeds and often quite a decent weight. To polish a surface with a grinder, you need to have considerable experience in this matter and use special polishing discs and circles. The grinder has much lower engine speed and weight. No factory sander required to operate certain experience and dexterity.

You can independently make a good grinder from an angle grinder, which is not inferior in its parameters to a factory machine, only by modifying it electrical diagram, by installing the regulator at lower speeds and by using special grinding attachments.

Making a grinder from a drill

To turn an ordinary household electric drill into a grinding machine, you need to equip it with a special attachment - a working drum or a special support plate, depending on the task at hand.

The support or sanding pad is a plastic or rubber base with sandpaper glued on and a shank for clamping into the drill chuck. Plates with a flexible shaft are suitable for working with a loose drill, while those with a rigid shaft are best used only for a well-fixed drill.

Sanding drums for a household drill are structurally a regular cylinder, a shank and sandpaper glued to the cylinder. When using drums, the working surface of the sander is parallel to the axis of rotation.

Making an orbital sander

Currently, you can only make an orbital machine with your own hands from a broken orbital machine. This is due to a complex device for rotating the working disk, which is quite problematic to replicate on your own. You should also keep in mind that a machine manufactured by a specialized company will not cost too much, but making it yourself will be very difficult and will take a lot of time.

Making a grinder from a computer hard drive + (Video)

Anyone who has served his time hard drive can be converted into a miniature grinding machine. To do this you need to follow these steps:

  • completely disassemble the hard drive and remove from the case everything that is located to the left of the magnetic disks;
  • cut out a working circle from sandpaper, make a hole in the center of the circle for the spindle;
  • stick several strips of double-sided tape onto the rotating disk of the hard drive and secure it with sandpaper;
  • make a protective screen to protect the eyes from the possible ejection of the manufactured sanding disc;
  • connect the finished design to the power supply from the computer and use it.

Of course, this design does not have high power, but it is quite possible to sharpen a small knife or scissors.

Vehicle, I would like to dwell on one more popular request: How to make car polish with your own hands? It's no secret that modern auto chemicals can be very expensive. Therefore, it is not surprising that many car owners strive to save money. Well, some people just like to do everything for the car with their own hands. So this article is for all of them.

We have already discussed why periodic polishing is important for the body and protruding metal parts and elements. It not only restores beautiful shine and appearance, but it also successfully fights minor defects, such as cracks, chips, rust, and scraped paint. In addition, the body surface becomes less susceptible to adverse environmental influences.

They are on sale in order to make the appearance of the car more attractive to the eyes of others. They are usually sold in tubes, bottles, aerosols, and therefore do not require any polishing machines for application. Unfortunately, they are not available to all categories of drivers, which is why many of them are thinking about how to make car polish at home.

Self-preparation technology for polishes

Before you start mastering home production, you should remember that any polishing product must contain a certain amount of an abrasive substance. To others the most important element is a binding component, and in other words, a base, which can be either liquid or silicone.

Preparing an abrasive for cleaning the body comes down to the following steps:

  • It is necessary to burn a small amount of paint (about 200 grams), but it must be chromium-containing. This can be done over a fire or using a soldering iron;
  • another option is to purchase ammonium dichromate and then burn it;
  • in this process, a liberation of hydrochloric acid is formed, which must be evaporated after oxidation.

Now you need to make a binding component similar to the one used in the well-known GOI paste. For this purpose, we will dilute together 2 parts of stearin, 1 part of acetic acid. Mix all this with 7 parts of chromium oxide and a couple of drops of kerosene. The resulting components will combine better if they are slightly heated during mixing.

Other polishing recipes

Another recipe involves preparing a varnish restoration product if there is significant damage to the coating. It can be made at home if you use ordinary clay. Even a small amount of 100 g will be enough to polish up to 10 times. All procedures must be performed with a microfiber-based cloth, since it has a structure that is gentle on the coating.

Another popular remedy that restores well paint coating on a car is the so-called “wax polish”. You can buy it at any auto store, but it’s easy to make it yourself to save money. We will need beeswax, which is better to purchase from a trusted place so that the product is of truly decent quality. The other component is regular turpentine. The wax is finely chopped, crumbled and melted to a liquid state in a steam bath or in a microwave oven.

Pour the same volume of turpentine into one part of the hot wax, stirring constantly, achieving uniform distribution. After this, pour the polishing wax into any container or jar and wait for it to cool completely. Instead of turpentine, you can use regular vegetable oil, which creates a fatty base.

Application rules

Now a few words about how polishing is applied to the vehicle body. Before starting the procedure, you need to prepare the necessary tools: protective gloves, a mask or respirator to protect your lungs, a soft sponge, fiber for hand polishing.

The stage of preparing the car for polishing deserves special attention. The car must be washed and any remaining dirt removed from it. As soon as the body is sufficiently dry, it would be a good idea to additionally degrease the area to be treated using diluted white spirit. Before applying a new polish, remove any remaining polish to allow the compound to adhere to the surface.

Polishing procedures can also be carried out in a ventilated garage if there is enough lighting. However, it is best to do this outdoors, in dry weather, at a temperature of 10 to 30 degrees Celsius. It is advisable that there is a canopy on top that will prevent the entry of dirt, dust or unwanted sun rays, distorting perception.
